hello... garagecube... is anyone there?? this is a serious question and it would be nice to have it answered.... it's not really hard.... does modul8 support two input freeframe fx that define a mixing mode? if so we'd like to port some of them to mac...but we don't want to waste our time otherwise ...

this is not a very specific need, it's a very common requirement.

for some of us we almost never mix on flat square screens and this layer locking feature would be great.

midi control of quartz composer patches should still be possible...

it's probably possible with the current version to use quartz composer patches that react to audio and listen to midi... this already works in current release of GRID PRO.

I'll test this when 2,5 comes out.

the difference is, if a vj app can load a "qtz" file it means it's full native support. maximum speed, possibility to still control quartz comps with keyboard or mouse or midi.... if you have to convert the quartzs to a quicktime then it may be running through a compatibility mode..slower framerate,...

well that sucks but thanks for clarifying... guess it just means any multiscreen installation needs to budget in a few scan converters as well

I can't find sample code for this but I believe that this was one of the design goals for Core Image / Core Video.

ie to allow different programs to pass video to each other on the graphics card.

It would be possible using core image pbuffers to transfer video on the graphics card without reading back into memory... but only if both programs supported it, you'd need a 'core video send' function in MAX/MSP and a 'core video recieve' function in Modul8.... I'd love to see all the mac vj develo...
