Are there any recommendations for Media Timeline software to use with MadMapper? If I want to run a "queued" event, is there any software out there that can be used to send video (and possibly a live feed) threw to MM? We've done this before with WatchOut, but that is on the rather expensi...
Is there a way to add ethernet to the Teensy to do Art-Net over Ethernet? How many universes can be run on a single teensy? Currently I've been use an Arduino Mega with an Ethernet Shield, each Arduino is a single universe. I've tried up to 5 universes with 5 Arduino's running a total of 612 RGB WS2...
my retina MBP has two thunderbolt outs and one HDMI = 3 outputs. You could actually daisy-chain two thunderbolt displays on a single thunderbolt port, that doesn't mean it can run 5 displays now. Just because you have three port's doesn't mean you can run three displays. But if you can, running thr...
The new MacBook Pros can run 3 displays out the box. 2 x DP and 1 x HDMI with no problems. Are you sure on 3, I'm getting mixed information online, but as far as apples own site says Dual display and video mirroring: Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 2...
Ok, thanks! I hope i wont see them smoke I've only done that once, when I was switching back and forth between strips and didn't realize I switched from a 12v to 5v strip, It fried just under half the strip before I realized what I had done.... I wondered why the LED were extra bright that day. Oops.
Thanks a lot for the feedback. I am looking for something mobile. so it's going to be a macbook pro. and as I'm buying this for our Studio, i would go big now i guess. Thanks a lot! Then the MacBook Pro is the way to go. We have dual Mac Pro's in travel rollers so sometime I forget what's portable ...
All MacBook pros can handle 2 external display up to 2560x1440 All have PCI-SSDs All come with at least 8gb or ram I've run MM on a 09 MacBook Pro, which isn't even close to even the Iris graphics or the i series processors. If you can afford the top of the line, it won't hurt, but it also won't hin...
As long as you have a quality power supply, and more importantly it's rated for the correct Volts for your strip, some strips are 5v some are 12v. You should be fine. Also make sure it's not just a bad strip. But the LEDs will get warm, not hot enough to burn you, but yes they can heat up. That's wh...
Is each Quad on a different plan or is it a flat surface? If it's the latter, I would build a single video clip with all 200 piece in it, it's gonna be MUCH less processor intensive, then trying to run 200 individual feeds. I mean, I'm not even sure a new 12 core Mac Pro could handle that. You might...
Your biggest lag will be transcoding and MM Processing. Ideally you would want an uncompressed video signal from the camera into whatever your working in, but I'm not sure if MadMapper can handle an uncompressed video signal. If your working with a cheese-grater MacPro you would have to install a Th...
Hey Nat, If so .. I mean if lets say i have addressable Leds whats the process then .. Do a search here and you'll find a lot of information on DMX Decoders & Encoders. If you want something supported by GarageCube & 1024, look at the Enttec devices with a DMX Decoder. I've been more intere...
Are your LEDs chipped? (i.e. WS2811, WS2801, ect) It doesn't sound like they are. Your strip wire connections should be PWR,DATA,GROUND or PWR,DATA,CLOCK,GROUND.
NateMac, very informative, thank you. That was a better answer than my question. When you say you move your files to the ssd when you're working on a project, does this apply across the board with all your applications ie photoshop, ableton, m8 etc? I do, but I also probably have a different workfl...
