Personally, I am more interested in ISF filters than generators, but no complaints if generators were to be added. It would make sense for MM and M8 to have technologies in common.

Also, ISF support would be great and would save me the pain of working in CoreImage.

Empirically, a CoreImage filter which return vec4(0.5, 0.5, 0.5, 1.0) will render grey 188 when it should be 128. It is quite bad that the basic math of compositing layers is not correct. I had been bothered by strange shadows and edges many times over the years, probably as the result of this bug.

It doesn't paint an arc like a pie chart. It paints a circle partly occluded by a line from the edge of the circle. You could do it with Syphon, for instance if you are using Mad Mapper then you can see the M8 output there on its way to its final destination. It looks like the buttons and encoders in the top half change their MIDI value depending which FX/Focus/Master/Double is on. Unfortunately M8 doesn't understand encoders (as you observed, the controller is sending standard CCs, so most software will treat it just like a knob near the center position...

Start by using an app like "midi monitor" to verify exactly what MIDI is coming out of your unit, particularly the pads and encoders that don't work. Modul8 will support note and CC data, but e.g. note 13 and CC 13 will collide, so if you are unlucky enough to have a controller that sends both notes...

I think the builtin "Mask (global)" module will do what you want. It lets you choose something from your media set to load as a mask, and there are options have it appear in the preview but not the output. I don't use it myself, but it exists to solve exactly your type of problem.

You definitely don't need to rebuild your sets from scratch. Option A: Change the name of your new external drive to match the name of your old external drive.
