After some preliminary test it would seem Mountain Lion has broken the support for 32bit (ie QT7) capture. Hopefully I'll discover a work around but for now don't expect this to work on any OS 10.8+
Capture/output limited to 720P but works great. Done quite a few gigs with this setup, including running a camera feed through. Delay is manageable - frames not seconds. Ours is in a rack so very portable.
Avoid advanced output if you can, it's quite confusing and isn't necessary most of the time (I've never used it in 6+ years of Modul8 VJing. The main output (aka Full Screen) is the based on the connected monitors resolution - the preview is just guide - so when you drag the preview window larger, a...
Modul8 is just lucky that none of the other VJ apps have a GUI I like to work with (Resolume - looking in your direction). As soon as some one does though - I'm out.
Ignore the Matrox site - your computer is definitely compatible with all models of DH2Go/TH2Go. The only possible problem you'll have is running 2x 1920x1080/1200 resolutions as they require the Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter to reach that resolution. Otherwise every other resolution will...
Good job! Look forward to other patterns - you should include some of the classic patterns (or interpretations of them). Also a text field or image loader so you can brand the pattern - not that I have any problem with Sigamasix of course.
SDI is a digital video standard over (high grade) BNC cables. It's the standard for pro end video. As the distances are quite short HDMI will do the job just as well. Generally SDI equipment costs more but if you have it - use it.
Thanks - Can you post the drivers somewhere? It looks like a DC60+ unit in a different case - your drivers may work on other boxes without needing to buy Videoglide.
It should work as it uses native quicktime capture but as I haven't tested it I can't be completely sure. It's a slightly unusual beast as it sends ProRes down the FW800 cable and not uncompressed as is usually the case - which could cause problems/stuttering/delay.
I would recommend the Triplehead2Go digital over any displayport specific model - there have been reported issues with VJs and HCDP errors on shows. The digital TH2Go model is more useful as it has both VGA & DVI input (so works on any laptop, not just MBP's) and will do 2 or 3 screens - so can ...
Personally I find it a pain the ass. It's the same key combo as save for web in Photoshop (minus the S key)which is the quickest way to get a perfect transparent png or flattened jpg when in the middle of a set. More than once I've strobed a live screen with colour while quickly dealing to a logo or...
Well based on this screen shot on Twitter there will (one day) be a new version of Modul8 - v2.7. So far all we know is that it will support Syphon as a Video Capture input.
