Hey VJs,


I tried to find some related posts, but I can't find any that describes my issue:

I would like to connect a live video cam to Modul8, running on a 13-inch Macbook( no firewire, only USB).
I guess this goes down to getting a composite input to the Mac.

Do you know any device to easily convert a video signal to USB (and use it live on the macbook)?
any recommandations in terms of resolution, latency, etc.. ?

. i use an xlr8 interview (http://daystartechnology.com/Apple_Mac_ ... SX_PS.html )

. it's pretty straight forward, but you'll need to install the drivers and choose composite/s-video from the modul8 preferences to choose which wire you're receiving

. resolution is pretty good, latency is around .5 second - about the same as using your built in webcam on the macbook

If you like to use webcam then now days many (hundreds?) webcams work with macam drivers.

Some newer webcams do really good HD capture.

XLR8 Pro is probably better choice. My EasyCap has only 1-2fps latency when viewing without effects, but no more than 10fps depending what i do with it.

thanks for your answer. I lloked at the info on the XLR8 interview, but I see that it does only 320x240 in resolution !
con you confirm it is impossible to get a full PAL (720x576) signal in ?
