    Latency issue with video capture

    by breen » Sun Apr 25, 2010 4:41 am

At the club where i am using modul8 several of the dj's play music videos. I take their video feed from their laptop into modul8 using the video capture function. It works but there is a slight lag that makes it look like watching a badly dubbed kung fu movie. They all tell me that this isn't an issue at other clubs where they don't have modul8. Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance,

    breen

You get latency with video capture in any computer unless using tower with high end(Blackmagic) capture cards.
    Nothing to do with Modul8.
Why dont you go to these other clubs and see how they use this idea. I have a feeling that hardware mixers are used there.

Vanakaru is right, the best way forward for this is a hardware mixer.

I actually do the same thing at time and even with a V4 there is some latency. In clubs where I have more control and I know that I am using Modul8 for the entire night...I can adjust the sound delay. But that will not be an option in your case.

At the other clubs where they do not have this issue they are playing the audio / video straight from their systems or DVJ's if that is what they are using.

Bottom line, there is not much you can do about the latency.
