    Make bilinear filtering an option?

    by Guest » Thu Oct 13, 2005 2:59 am

    Hello,

Is it possible to turn off bilinear filtering in Modul8? As an artist, to smooth or not to smooth is a BIG aesthetic choice. I have some small GIF mov's that look terrible (aesthetic call) when scaled up and interpolated in Modul8. I'd really like to be able to turn off interpolation.

OR...is it possible to write a new module that scales without interpolation?

    :)

I agree with our guest :)
It can be good to turn off the filtering for nice crunchy pixellated effects !!

I understand your request. We'll see if we have time to add an option for the next release.

(I'm the Guest -- for some reason I wasn't logged in when I posted...)

Thanks for the quick response! I'm really glad you recognize the aesthetic impact of interpolation. Any chance you can get the new version out in time for my 8 bit gig? :D :D :D

Of course, the most of the time the filtering looks good.
But some times no, especially if you like the pixels.

    No, sorry.
But if you want, i can send you an 'hacked' version without any filtering.

That's good news! I will lobby even harder to get a site license for my program. See, I'm a poor grad student and I'm still playing with the demo... :D

no, i haven't, but several good friends of mine do use modul8 in performance so i'm [emoticon holding thumb and forefinger a millimeter apart] this close to buying it or (better) getting my program to buy a site license.

and yes, two of those good friends are Ilan and Chika -- i'll say hi for you, sigma. :)

Nono, I have version 2, I was on the beta test, that is all I meant. I have a vailid 2.0 serial. I just wanted to be clear it was from the demo, that is all. Sorry to confuse.

Programmers who are willing to rewrite the software specificaly for your performance?

Wow - if ever there was a reason to plunk down money for a license - that would be it!

Well, if someone REALLY need a version of modul8 without any filtering, I can make one.
Send me an email with a VALID serial number.
BUT, at the end of the year (probably) the new version is out with this optional option.

Hello to Chika and Ilan too :)

I just woke up from my forum stupor. Umm... I would love a trilinear disabling feature! Can we have it?

    best,
    ilan
