I was cursious if anyone out there had tried this with Modul8 (or anything else for that matter).. I wonder how it would react??

Sure would be nice to use a dual core mac mini for giggin..

Yes it works with Modul8. Also support for non 4/3 format is integrated in the V2.5 of Modul8.

so, just to clarify:
if I buy one of those and plug it in to my Mini, I will have a screen setup working exactly like that of my PowerBook?

Obviously Yves will be able to answer this question better than me, I don't have a Mini, this display splitter device, nor the intimate knowledge of how M8 handles displays.
But I did do a little bit of research on it and here's what i've gathered:
The display acts like one big display i.e. The splitter device tells the graphics card that it's one super wide monitor let's say 2048x768 (2 XGA side by side). And the graphics card doesn't know any better (unless perhaps they came out with proper OS X drivers for the splitter).
One down side to this is that apps will open their startup screens in the middle of the screen and by default i imagine most things open dead center between the 2 screens.
I used to have a dual screen windows nt box that behaved like this. it was an annoyance but was worth it for all the screen real estate.

anyway, so to anwser you question Jesper, no it won't behave like your powerbook, which allows you to control the two displays independantly, it could potentially if they took the time to write mac drivers for it, but as it is it will apparently behave in this less featured way i described, but also apparently still be usable for Modul8..

Another important note, if this works out, it could be a great way to run multiple distinct projectors off of one laptop or imac.

yes,what I noted was also the "one big screen" thing.
so unless Yves & Co built some cool tricks into 2.5, this really won't be of much use, M8-wise.
(since the output window can only be scaled to 800 by 600)

Yes. It allows you to do multi-projection using a PowerBook which is great. We have one of this device and already tested it. It works pretty well. The V2.5 allows you to use several different ratios for the preview panel, so you can map it perfectly to the very wide output of the Matrox device.

Regarding the mini, it simply requires a special mode that puts the full-screen output on half of the screen while the interface stays on the other half. It was not planned for the V2.5, but I really would like to have it for the final release.

i have read that the duel does, and i see no reason for the triple not to work either, but i could be wrong. does anyone know?

Allright, I have a mac mini (the only thing I could afford), and version 2.5
Is it worth spending €120 on the dualhead2go? Will it work? Because it would be a pity when I still have the apple bar in my 2nd 'output' screen.
