I saw in the Matrox website that the TripleHead2Go is not compatible with the new Mini Displayport, this is a total nightmare because like many people I do my show with this matrox hardware and a MBP. I believe that my next option as backup is a Macmini with DVI but I dont have info if her DVI port is compatible to TH2G.

Could you post a link? Also, do you know if this affects the DualHead2Go? I just bought one and briefly tested it on my new MBP (even BEFORE updating my VGA Adaptor...can you believe that, an update for an adaptor?!?) and it seemed to work fine. Just want to be sure because I've got a show coming up that I'm planning to use the setup for. If it won't work on my new MBP, I can always fall back to my brother's last gen MBP, so it would be nice to know ahead of time...

Wow, who would have thought? That sucks hard. Guess I'm lucky I only need two projectors...

Look on the bright side though, maybe by the time they get this worked out the MBPs will have the ability to chain the video chips together for more performance.

Actually that reminds me, what I've been think would be great would be if the integrated graphics chip could run my internal display and the hardware chip could run the external display in Modul8. Not sure if that's even possible, but it seems like it would be cool...

My brother and I DJ/VJ combo just bought two new Macbook Pro's 2.8ghz 512mb 9600mGT, 4gb of ram 500gb HD 7200rpm. Only problem was the mini display port thing on going out to VGA and DVI but we just got one of those scan converters. I got the Grand Ultimate Vision from grandtec, it outputs to Video, Svideo, RGB and Y.CB.Cr. I like it better because it has the VGA out so I can view the output on a small computer screen. You can just get AC/DC adapter to power it they are very common, so you don't have to worry about power taking up a usb slot. It works flawlessly. The converter itself has some pretty nifty features.
    Next Gen Visuals.

I feel your pain. I just upgraded to the new MacBookPro from a Powerbook G4 - graphics performance? BIG UPGRADE! output options? DOWNGRADE...

IF Apple is ignoring us VJ's now, they won't forever. ;-)
Most VJ's I know are using Apple, when the mainstream "VJ Trend" hits,
they are bound to fully jump on.

You CAN get a firewire 400 -> 800 cable if you look.

For the monitor out? You need a scan converter if you wanna have S-VID for your V4 or whatever. check amazon

(yes, many of us are using software mixing INTO hardware mixing of course!)

My QUESTION is - now I've upgraded also to a SONY HD camera that has USB 2.0 but NO FIREWIRE. :-( So what's a guy to do? Right now I'm getting a USB capture thing to input it through it's SVID output,
but for true digital, it would seem I'd have to get a $$$ HDMI input box, eh? any other way?

Just remember, this all is "PROGRESS"!
If we dont have to RE BUY everything, the world won't go round? ;-)
