Hi,
I'm an enthousiast user of modul8 and i just send you this post to suggest some new features to make it even better.
So here is a list of improvements/new features i'd really like to see in the next update :
- possibility to save a different media mapping for each modul8 file, not only 1 default mapping.
- send midi messages out/back to midi devices
- more media sets (possibility to create additional media sets)
- more layers sets (possibility to create additional media sets)
- possibillity to link one layer to another and one parameter of a layer to another parameter in another layer (via scripting for instance
like in after effects)
- possibility to manually assign midi mapping (not only by midi detection) so we could type the channel/control change parameter directly
- numbered layers with differnt colors assignable
- an integrated midi file player/recorder would be great to read/record full shows.
That's all for me. Keep up the good work.

V2 features

Good job seems to have been done with the V2.
I can't wait to test it !
I'm mainly interested into the scripting thing that's showing up...
The crossfader is a good thing too.
But two features will still lack for me :
- ability to save midi/keyb mapping independently ;
- unlimited number of media banks and layer sets ;
By the way, this new release seems to be very promising and i didn't expect it so soon !!
Keep up the good work.

I really like the improvements that you are going to make in v2.
But there is one thing missing that Iwould really like:
An option to control the effects like color and rotation on multiple layers simultaneous. It would be really great if you could select 4 layers at once and then have them act as on layer.

With the module architecture of the V2.0 you can create a module that does exactly that in a couple of minuts without even having to write a script.

The second request will require a major rework of the media system. This is something that won't happen right now. The first one is not too difficult but we don't really have extra time these days... finishing the beta is our top priority. Once it is done, we will polish everything and see what small improvements can still be integrated.

Thanks for your answers and this wonderful app you bring to us.
The reason why i ask for these improvements is because i mainly work on live shows (concerts with video) that are almost entirely 'written' and it could be fantastic for me to have all the playlist of the concert set up in layer sets (one layer set per track) for instance. Having up to 16 layer sets, would be a good improvement for a next revision...
And as my bank of clips hugely increases i think that 5 banks of 16 clips will soon be too short.
Concerning the midi mapping saving, this functionality would save me time when i swap from one concert to another with different midi set-up. Because depending on the show, i don't use the same gear/set-up for i have different needs. I may use mk225C keyboard w/ bcr2000, mk225C alone, sequencer midi input from another computer or from a stage instrument, etc.
Anyhow, i'm very happy with modul8 and the way it's evolving.
Big up for all the team.

What about saving the midi mapping inside the document instead of the global preferences ?
Go to the preferences under "Key/Midi mapping" and set "Use Document Configuration". This way, each document can have its own configuration.

I would definitely second the MIDI feedback option. Not that it's critical at this point in time but I just got a BCR and I would love to see it!
