    Performance Issues...

    by Doerak » Mon Jul 05, 2004 2:04 am

I played some more, and I noticed some strange performance issues.

If I play this clip (ProJPG 300x400) my Powerbook G4 1.33 GHz gets on its knees. It shouldn't be that hard for him. Any ideas why? The default startup document takes about 50% CPU.

Hmmm... Don't know what's going on with this clip... We'll check that...

Modul8 refuses to pre-load in "FULL PRELOAD MODE" this movie for an obscure reason related to its framerate (26.9fps). If you recompress this movie with a constant framerate of 25fps, the problem dissappears. I'll investigate that.

Now, please note that the CPU monitor does not reflect at all the performances of Modul8. For examples, in you specific example you can still make several copies of your loop in several layer without having a slow down. So do not judge the performance of MD8 from what you see in the CPU monitor, but on what you see in the output panel.

We have some threads that runs very fast to be as reactive as possible.

I'll add a note about that in the FAQ that we are preparing.
