Live Video Feed In a Retail Environment

Hello,

I am doing a research and feasibility study for a big box retailer in the United States.

The goal is to create a live interactive experience for customers where live video of the customer is capture as the enter the establishment. A special effects filter would then be applied to the image and projected on a large video screen in front of customer.

The system would have to provide delay free play back, run independently for long periods of time and be easy to setup and maintain.

The Modul8 Software seems to be the closest fit I have found so far but I don't know if it is the right fit.

Do you think this software would be applicable to the project described above, and if so what hardware would be appropriate for the project? If not, could you offer any suggestions for a software/hardware platform that might work.

Thank you for your help. I look forward to your replies.

it depends on what effect you want to apply but it seems to be the right software

for the hardware, if modul8 doesn't need to be controlled, you can use a mac mini connected to any video projector and an isight or firewire camera (isight is enough i think). This is the smallest cofiguration and also the cheapest!

Thanks for your reply. It helps to confirm that I am on the right path.

By the way, the effect I was hoping to use was a simple pixelation of the image so that it appears as a series of squares or dots.

Thanks again.

withe the 2.5 and freeframes effects you can do that

You certainly don't need freeframe plugins to accomplish that effect. Simply use the Transform with the particle filter (set to particle mode) and set the coarseness to about 50 and you've got what you've described...

You can use also the core image effect : Pixellate
is on the filter module and it is more faster.
And for dots you can use the core effect : Dot Screen

Try the Demo !
