    Wishlist (kinda big)

    by spongemonkey » Fri Aug 03, 2007 11:10 am

Ok. This is a big list, but I think there are some good ideas in there and some seem pretty easy... but what do I know?

-- Make Filter settings SAVE! I have come up with a number of really cool settings using the filters or a number of filters together, but when I re-open the project, most of the filters revert their default settings. Sometimes this means a bit of tweaking to get it back to where it was, but often times I cannot get it back and forgot how things were.
Make em save or have some sort of saved preset function.

-- Be able to drag filter tabs so change the order they happen. As with much in compositing, the order in which things happen can change the output greatly. To be able to drag tabs around in order would be a great way to experiment even deeper with making interesting manipulations.

-- In the "Open Project (Global)" module, be able to open a finder dialog, and simply select the module. Also only list them by name, not full path.My file path is usually so long that I cannot see the name of the file I am opening, which kind of cuts down on the convenience of the modul.

-- A way to copy a set of layers and move them easier. It would be great to be able to select a number of layers and drag them either from the A bank to B or to and of the 8 slots.

-- A way to bring all modules to the front that may have gotten hidden behind windows. Maybe there is a good way to do this. I am not a seasoned Mac user, so I don't know. I work on a laptop and often the modules get hidden behind the main window and it would be nice if they could all be front and center with a click or keystroke.

-- It would be nice if the Logical render warned you when you were about to render a file with the same name as a file that exists! I have accidentally rendered over the previous render because there is no warning. Sure it was my goof, but most apps let you know when you are about to do something like that.

-- For some of the functions like Auto-Scale, it would be really cool if you could adjust the in and out point of the scale effect. So for example you would be able to move the slider on both sides (like the loop in and out point slider) if you wanted your clip to just scale from "very tiny" to "just slightly bigger".

-- To be able to tweak the luma key levels. If I have a B&W clip and key out the black, the edges look fine, but when I key out the white, I often get a little fuzzy white line left over. It would be nice if that could be tuned out via a knob.

-- To be able to mask just the layer below. I am guessing this would get pretty processor heavy. And just to clarify, let's say I have a white star on black as my top layer clip, and a video clip layer right below it. Then I mask out the white of the star, so now we have my star filled with video clip. Then to be able to composite that on top of yet another layer (by keying out the black around the star).

Yes I know, this is a large wish list. I'll keep using Modul8 regardless of what happens in the next version, but I just wanted to share some of my ideas.

    Collect for output.....

    by spectral » Fri Aug 03, 2007 5:40 pm

I would like a feature which collects all media in a project into one folder and saves a new project in same folder with the links to media updated in the new project.

    one main Reason for this......
This is very useful as i am teaching VJing with M8. There are 5 ibooks with projects on, the performance laptops are high spec macbook pros. So when i move these projects to Macbooks the media links are busted. Loads of hassle for me to re-link all media.

    second reason.....
I cannot fit all my media on lappy....so have 2-3 external drives. When i am preparing a set i pull media from various places....if there was this feature i could use it to create a folder with 128 clips and one project very useful !

hi. is there any way to avoid this? haven't found much about it in the forums (complaints either for that matter). i get this quite regularly, even when using few and pretty basic filters. do some of the filter trigger this? or something else? well it's driving me crazy... just waiting for the day that this will happen just before a gig

filters are totaly scriptible. you can write your own filtermodul where you can change order, save last settings etc.

On the wishlist: Module dowload counter

by The Midi Thief » Mon Feb 18, 2008 8:35 pm

It would be nice to see a download counter on each module in the module download menu. Interesting info for people building/sharing modules.
