Hi!
I'm planed to buy a new firewire interface to capture live cam.
Actually I'm using a decklink with my G5, work fine.
But I need a firewire interface with my Macpro multi out because all pci bus are using by grafic card.

Who are using firewire interface and what manufacturer ? I'm looking for try to fine the best solution for M8.

I'm interessed with the DFG/1394-1
http://www.outcastsoft.com/ASCDFG1394.html
It looks great ?

Or with the new IO from aja (yeah not the same price)
http://www.aja.com/html/products_Io.html

I sent an email to aja support to know about test with M8 but no answer yet. Someone did get the chance to try it ?

Hi Lupin !
There is a copy from an Milton email that i received today (outcastsoft president):

"There is no such thing as zero latency with FireWire / USB, but the DFG is better than DV Cameras / Converter sources. Depending on the Mac, Latency with a DFG should be in the 2 frame range (say approximately < 0.1 seconds) and that's simply because it takes time to collect the frame, then transmit the data across the bus, then re-assemble it and lastly pass it to the application for display."

Also the DFG is small enough to put in your shirt pocket, weighs maybe 3 ounces and is bus powered, so it's great for mobile set ups.

Hope that helps.

Milton J. Aupperle"

I guess for this price (less than 300 €) the imagine is the best firewire solution. I'm going to buy one for Starloops and send you my opinion.

I found this
http://www.canopus.com/products/TwinPac ... act100.php

Looks pretty cool because you can capture video or VGA, cool to use power point into M8.
Price arround 500 €

I will try to find one and test it.

I have one of these, works perfectly, also very handy to convert old VHS tapes or just stream from these old VCR's
