forthcoming Quicktime 7, and Flash files...

    by aj » Sun Mar 13, 2005 12:24 pm

so the release of OSX Tiger will also come alongside the release of Quicktime 7. does anyone know of any indications that this QT7 release will support the playback of flash files (.swf) made with more recent versions of Macromedia Flash ?

some of my best graphics material is in .swf format and it gets a bit tiresome converting several files made in the latest versions of Flash to .mov
Not only that, but the file size is increased and the quality is decreased.

so, any ideas about QT7 and flash?

    THX!

Sorry just to be chiming agreement, but I'm in the same boat. And nothing I've read *anywhere* about the new version of Quicktime says whether or not it supports Flash 7 files. I'm really puzzled this is seen to be such a non-issue. It's more important to me than a new video codec.

Well, Modul8 supports Flash through QT but it is not a flash mixer. We may improve Flash support in the future, but right now we have many other priorities.

If you have performance problems you may have to check the frame size of your flash animations. If they are too big it will generate huge VRam texture in Modul8 for nothing. Be sure also to check that your flash files are not compressed.

modul8 is really cool...but without "real" flash support by flash player it works only 50 %

i hope that flashsupport will follow very fast ;)

    greetz to modul8 crew....

hum... modul8 was first made for mixing VIDEO so it works 100% then you can use some flash files so it's good for a VIDEO mixer... in this case maybe you can say modul8 works 99% 8)
