Sound EQing

Hi all,

am wondering if anyone has any ideas about how to EQ the sound input so that we can select different bands of audio to be used for response. VDMX has a nice set up in that you can select different bands and set these to parameters, and I'd like to do something similar. At the minute we have a hardware mixer which filters out some of the bands (ie can concentrate on bass or highs). I thought it would be good to have another bit of software running which took the overall sound in, split the sound into different frequency bands and produced a midi signal out - this midi is then picked up by modul8 and assigned accordingly - for example scale or colour.

has anyone done anything like this, or knows of a similar method to achieve this?

Cheers

rather than a basic mixer, you could use a graphic eq, or a fully parametric eq to process it. alterntively, you could use soundflower to re-route the audio to a max/msp or pd patch (or ableton or similar vst host) to do the filtering first then use that filtered audio in modul8. This is a significant downfall in the use of audio in modul8.

Yeah, thought about using a MAX patch, will look at doing this...
