mmmmm....to add...noise
Now seriously I use it to texturise flat colour bitmaps and when I start a set after another vj. I normally fade from full on noise to my branded test card and then I start my set. Its a good way to get people's attention and create a new begining, specially if the previous vj's style is very different to yours.

I use noise only with text (I VJ poetry), it gives an interesting introduction effect before the texto comes out in full view....

I let it represent Sound FX in Ableton Live through MIDI.

I've no been able to incorporate it that well, even in the more noise/sound art based work that I do (where the blocky distorted aesthetic of zooming in on fotage very closely works nicely), any ideas other than a 'snow show' to fade from and to would be really interesting. Please, expand my mind.

i'm using noise to make the look of different sources/styles more consistent.
noise on a low level gives my pictures a grain effect.
i like this and i use it very often, i would say with 80% of my clips.
for me its a multichanel parametric mastereffect. yep.
