Using Quicktime Chapter markers in Modul8

    by Barthvis » Wed Oct 29, 2008 6:50 pm

Is there any way to use the Quicktime Chapter markers in Modul8?

It would be great to be able to prepare a movie upfront with named Chapters and then switch to each chapter within a layer. Anyone any ideas?

Why would you want to do that?

Say, you have a long 10 minute movie with certain keyframes you want to jump to. With Chapter Markers you can do that. The marker(s) wil be allways there, frame accurate, inside the movie, not conected to a certain Modul8 flle. Within a Modul8 layer you then load the movie and with a keystroke (or midi control) you could flip through all the (named) chapters. So instead of loading say 20 clips you now load just one movie in a layer and use the Markers to switch scenes. That way you can also enlarge the amount of media you have available. 8 * 16 = 128 slots, just is not enough for us. (We have over 1000+ clips)

Sounds really usefull, what do you think?

You are right: GN-Chopper does a great job chopping it up in same size parts, but I'm afraid it is not frame accurate enough.
The Chapter Marker option is already build in in the Quicktime container, so why not use it?

I do not know if it's possible to use the marks of Quicktime. but it's a good idea.
