hey,
iam enjoing the modul8 demo and i already
watched the tutorial on the site. but i cant find
simple solutions to do a simple multiply mode effect like in photoshop or after effects...

is there anything without having clips with alpha channel?

and if not, what is the best way to bring alpha from after effects to
modulate?

thanks ronny!

Use the luma effect?
When you're on the layer, it's next to the blur effect (I think)
But I always use that one. It does take a lot of cpu i heard.

you wont find blend modes in M8 - not yet anyway.
as for alpha channels.

I'd suggest using PNG+ codec

the luma key effect makes blacks transparent so the layer under it will show through. it will not be the same as blending mode>multiply but similar. you can choose to key out R or G or B separately as well. to my it has more flexibilities that simple blend in AE.
with alpha you deal with huge file sizes. its animation codec or png that supports alpha.

In another thread ( http://www.garagecube.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=618&highlight=multiply ) it read that the blending modes (Screen, Multiply, etc.) would be introduced in version 3. Any word on version 3's release schedule? 2009? 2010? 2011?

The blending modes would be the coolest thing to have. Luma key or alpha channels are just not the same thing.

Blending modes will be before v3. For v3 I am not allowed to provide any information for the moment.
