isn't it time for a upgrade or something new from Modul8

while the VJing world expands and grows, new technologies are popping up all of the place...new means of interacting with things are exploding.....
and yet modul8 has not changed must in the last few years.
Don't we need a big big update soon????

I do not know!
I find more and more new ways to use it as it is. To the point that I prefer perfectly working OLD one over NEW exiting on full of bugs for some time.
Also modules creation has added some nice new stuff lately.
And I do not see that much VJ world to grow and many new technological stuff can be used with M8 even today. You need some bridges(OSC comes to mind) to do that, but still.
The biggest difference with others (VDMX, Isadora) is for me M8 being the fastest, smoothest running one.
What I miss the most today is reliable alpha channel implementation, but this is as much about good codec as well.

i think the garagecube team are working on a new version as we speak, due out any day soon hopefully. Personally i cant wait either. Although i do think that modul8 is still an awsome bit of kit, but in need of a few tweaks here and there.

I know it's hard to look at a program like M8 and not think that an update is due, but you have to ask yourself, "what is it that I can't do right now that an update would let me do?" I know there are a couple of things that it would be nice to have, but the truth is that you can do a TON with M8 as it it. Not to mention that it's very stable and very fast. Features aren't everything, especially when you've got a pretty capable software in the first place.
Note that I'm not saying I don't want an update, but it sounds like you're just asking for an update for the sake of having an update. Perhaps it would be more productive to outline some of the things you would like to see in an update...

An update is due soon. Currently it is internally seeded and will be available to all registered users as a beta.

dunno why, just hoping for an update to solve it all :p
I'll look for a adequate topic(or start a new one) to explain the problem for discussion..

I worked with someone a few months ago who was having a lot of play back problems. I moved the files to my computer and the video played back smoothly.
Could be you've got something running in the background that is eating up processes?

As I remember it, minor versions are free (2.5,2.6 etc) but major versions (2.0, 3.0) is charged with an upgrade fee.
Right?
