This is in the youtube info posted, by the person that posted that video. It is not possible to use Modul8 to do this. You should look into MaxMsp and applications like that.

Watch in high quality! An amazing display of 714 metal balls on strings. It really gets creative after 1 minute. So please be patient. This display was created by the company http://www.artcom.de.

Can't say how it was done, other than lots of time and programming.

yep… this involve custom electronic and then custom programming and calibration… You cannot do that inside modul8, modul8 is not made for this purpose.

It would be stupid try to do it with Modul8. M8 is not for controlling servo motors. I think Isadora, VVVV, Processing would do this for some extent using Arduino controllers, but not anything complex.
But to accomplish anything like this BMW stuff you need to program specially for your task.

Yes, this is one of the WOW things.
It makes me think if this effect - from chaos to organized - could be made visually without mechanical part. Like falling particles with different speeds that in one point in time become an image.
Have you seen these and related wooden mirrors.
