Hi Folks
Working on a proposal for a video projection outdoors. Source cameras and a laptop running M8 about 400 feet from projectors. Looking into good quality VGA extenders (Geffen, Lindy, etc) which seem like they would work... any experiences or suggestions to share?
Much appreciated,
John

Thanks - I'm already onto VGA / CAT5e send/receive units - have you had any experience with 400 foot runs? They would terminate in 16k+ Barco projectors.
Thanks
John

I have used 100m runs without a problem no amplifier. I have a Gefen baluns - not too expensive, but are used by many our projector rental companies. Their cat5 cable comes usually in 200-300m drums adapters built in the drum. We have used in high pro setups flawlessly.

How do I get the best out of my mini vga to hdtv? I'm buying a mini vga to VGA adapter and run the vga to my hdtv as it has a vga input. I have a 32" Samsung TV. Once connected do I need to change any settings on my TV or iMac G5 (Leopard) to make the outcome look the best it can?
And how do I do so on my mac?

Is your tv 400 feet from your iMac?

I know a guy doing 500ft throws at times using cat, you should be good, just make sure to amplify the signal.

I already used an ethernet system for a show.
4 x 12000 lumens projectors synchronized and about 80m of cable for each of them.
The solution is simple :
4 VGA to ethernet converters connected to the computer
+ 4 ethernet to VGA converters connected to the videoprojectors
In an other show, we used 400m of optic fiber between 2 pcs it's a good solution but very expensive…
