How do I go about doing this?

I'm completely new to Module8 - I know I can do it as it has a section for complex projections on the site - i just don't know how to do it!!

i should also add that i really only need to know how to make the software do it atm - i'm trying to do a proof of concept thing so don;t need to wire up the hardware yet :)

You will need a Mac Pro with several graphic cards. If you're planning to do it with a Macbook/Macbook Pro you can do a realatively cheap solution with 3 screens by using the TripleHead2go from Matrox.

I would also recommend converting from .AVI to just about any other format. There are many suggestions on this forum for what works best.

so i need the extra heads just to get the software to preview the files playing?

i'm just trying to take this step by step atm - so not worrying about getting it projected yet - that's a little bit down the line - all i need to do right now is bring the files (soon to be anything but avi files!! :) ) into module8, and run them all at once so i know that what i'm doing will work in the first instance - then i'll start splashing out on the hardware - which i'm guessing is to going require me flogging my girlfriend on ebay for a fair price?

i don't really need any of module8s other features atm - i'm really just after something that can output 4/5 videos to seperate projectors, synched.

look at advanced output setuo under output menu. put clip on each output on route window so you get up to 8 preview windows on screen. when you get your multihead system you do the same.
BTW if you buy cards for your mac pro do not mix vendors like ati and nvidia do not work together well.

nice one :)

i managed to get the 4 separate preview windows but not sure how to get the videos on each one.

just out of curiosity - is there any way (i doubt but... worth asking) to get a macbook to do this? via firewire or something?

Triplehead2go will trick your MBP to output super wide screen that you can span across 3 monitors/projectors. With little tweaking the advanced output you can have 3 videos on these 3 screens.
In Modul8 you can make your preview screen the size of these 3 out side by side and then place each layer on it side by side.
Forget firewire it outputs DV format only and M8 is not support recording firewire out.
And forget MacBook - it is made for light computer use. I do not have one, but I doubt it will work.

yeah - i pretty much thought macbook would be too lightweight - it's specced up for me to do my dev work but this is the first time i've wanted to do anything visually demanding.

looks like i'll be in the market for a 'real' mac soon :s

cheers :)
