So a couple of times I've heard people say that Quartz compositions render really slow in Modul8, and I didn't understand it. To me they seem to perform just as well as in the QC editor.
I think I have cleared up the issue. I am always converting my .qtz files to .mov before opening them in Modul8 - mainly to control the size and duration of the file. But it seems that in general direct import of qtz is much slower than the file converted to .mov.
I have written about it on my blog and included files for testing:

For those not familiar with these formats: A .qtz file is not rendered into a regular frame-by-frame movie when you convert it to .mov. It's just sort of wrapped in a Quicktime packaging. Of course rendering a quartz file to a flat frame-by-frame movie is sometimes an option also.
Looking forward to hear about your experiences and tests of this.
