I just bought a brand new Mac Pro and want to put a black magic video card in it. But have been told that with the new models it can not use the video card as a extended desktop. Mac should have change this so it does not work on new mac - is it true??

Do you want to use the black magic to output your Modul8 feed?
I wouldn't recommend this as the BM card doesn't have any of the 3D processing bits that Modul8 needs. As the GFX card on the MacPro has 2 outputs so you should use one for display and other for output from Modul8.
You could theoretically do what you're asking but chances are you'd get a shitty framerate and possibly errors.
I'm not sure about no longer doing 'extended desktop' via the BlackMagic controls but every card of theirs I've used still supports it.
On the other hand the BlackMagic would get you a zero latency video input into Modul8 which is well awesome.

thanks for your reply.
It is because I need it in a television studio. And I use today both screen output and video output card in the studio on the earlier version of the MacPro.
Why we use the video card is besauce the tv system in denmark is PAL and that is 50 hz. But the output from the Macs DVI/VGA is 60 hz which result in the picture stands and flashes.
Therefore I would like to run an output on the Black Magic card - which I do on my two older mac. But can not get it to work on the new Mac.
And have heard, but am not sure that Mac would have made it on the new Mac that you can not run Extened disktop video card more?

You should be able to set your output refresh rate to either 50 or 60hz under display preferences. You can pretty much take any format and then have the GFX card do an on the fly standards conversion as you need.
Good luck

New macpro dual quad with (older) decklink HDPRO gives extended desktop only with DeckLink_Macintosh_7.2.1 install, and not with the latest BM software. I don't know if the new cards work with an older install. Modul8 runs fullspeed, even with ProResHQ.
