Is There a List of Supported File Formats and Codecs

I am new to your forum and apologise if this question has been covered many times before.
Is there a list of supported File Formats and Codecs that I can refer to. Currently I am extracting video from dvd's of my own work and as I end up with a stack of VOBs I need to convert to an acceptable format for Mod8. With so many files to convert, conversion/export time is a major consideration. Any suggestions or pointers gratefully received.
