I've seen there are various posts about using Max for Live for mapping virtual midi ports to M8 but is there a way i can just use Max 5 to affect dials within modul8

Done a bit of research and still no real answers. My midi keyboard is easily recognised but midi messages from Max do not even come up in the PrintDirectEvent module.

Can anyone help?

thanks, lee

. well, i don't use max - but i've been in your situation :)

. start max then start modul8
. go to preferences, see if max shows up

. and/or download MIDImonitor ( http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/12429 ) and see if max is sending anything

An encoding scheme is used to map a MIDI value to a specific instrument sample. Also, other sound parameters such as note volume and attack are included in the MIDI scheme. The keyboard merely acts as a MIDI controller of sound modules and other MIDI devices, including DAW software.

thanks for your comments both.

i downloaded the monitor and it shows max is sending midi information on a virtual midi port which they label maxmsp1 (on channel one) sending note and velocity information.

when in preferences on modul8 there are no MaxMsp references.

I've heard modul8 has some problems recognising Virtual ports anyway?

any other suggests?
