DVI output of second Macbook as live input

    by speakerfood » Wed Mar 24, 2010 1:41 pm

I'm trying to achieve the following, and hope you guys can help:

I need the monitor DVI output of a second macbook that is running Skype as the live input for a macbook that is running Modul8.

This without too much delay, otherwise audio and video of Skype will get out of sync.

The most easy solution would be pointing webcam attached to your macbook with M8 to your skype macbook screen and take audio direct line or mic in.
Anything else involves too much voodoo to take seriously.

Or you could use a DVI-VGA cable and a device called VGA2USB.

    It's a bit pricy though...

I have not heard it would work but with desktop static - no streaming video. Too slow!

"VGA2USB software makes it possible to save and print captured images, to setup a periodical "save" command to capture images to disk or record an AVI file (Windows platform only). In addition to that, VGA2USB software is compatible with DirectShow on Windows and QuickTime on Mac OS X, which allows third-party applications to use VGA2USB as a video input."

    I know that really works:

with Express card to your MBP you get excellent framerate - latency. I tested it at the reseller her in town. But costs even more - about 500USD.
