auto color "sound in"
I get the same problem with "sound in" on "auto color"... turning red (or other color) on just a little makes a layer completely red. I've been meaning to post about this problem kept forgetting. I'm using "sound in" alot lately for other FX as well and these effects seem to work best together. please fix this!! please please!!
knobs jump all over
I'm not sure what you mean by this one... which knobs are the problem? all knobs? jumping around when you try changing them with the mouse? when you aren't doing anything? please try to be a little more specific!
transformer patch controls only go lower, not higher
I'm wondering if maybe your mouse (or work surface) may not be part of the problem... In my case I use the PB trackpad, and those patch controls are a little small and I've noticed that making minor fine changes on them is a little clunky (up or down), but it seems less like a software problem then a controller problem.
hard to tell for sure.
Doesn't allow changing media
Well, "red" media always takes a few seconds to load. I've developed a wierd habit that when I sense a change in the musc coming I'll sometimes change the media ahead of time by a few seconds and oddly the timing of the new media coming on matches pretty well. But obviously this isn't ideal. I used to have a problem where the software just didn't seem to allow media changes for certain media, but it seems that this is related to how the media is loaded or not loaded into memory.
If you want certain media accessable immediately then you can always "edit" its "info" to "uncompressed" memory, but this requires you going through all your media beforehand and make those settings one by one... Also its hard to judge how much is too much.
can't duplicate layers
I haven't seen this either. There are a are certain types of settings where I will duplicate a layer and the media doesn't come attached, only the settings...but yeah, I don't remember which settings... hmm. You might want to be more specific about what you mean about "can't duplicate." Are you saying that the "duplicate layer" button is inactive? or that you deplicate and the media reference gets lost? or something else?
Generally glitchiness?
I haven't noticed too much problem with the "general" glitchiness or instability. My major issues are with how playback of clips will sometimes grind down to a really slow speed or just drop frames like crazy. We build our clips pretty small to maximize performance with multiple layers, but it happens so much I was assuming that its just because my 1Ghz G4 powerbook isn't fast enough. When we do fast sets this isn't a big issue because we do alot of live cutting, but with slow sets its really noticeable.
Then theres also a problem that only we (2 of us) seem to be experiencing here where the interface shuts out mouse control completely (while keyboard and midi are still active). This hasn't happened to me lately but it was happening once every 2 or 3 sets for a while there for us. It seems no one else is experiencing this one, so I'm thinking its maybe an issue with a Japanese keyboard or a 2-byte capable OS.
