    multiple HD video outputs

    by Jordana » Thu Jul 01, 2010 3:57 pm

    Hello,
I am new to Modul8 and after spending some time getting to know the program I just wanted to check and see what the best way to create multiple HD video (1920 x 1080) outputs are?
Any help would be much obliged,

With a very fast machine with fast graphic cards, lots of RAM, and fast hard drives...

    Thanks for the speedy reply!
I was actually after the system setup - how to I set the program to get 2 different HD video sources (1920 x 1080) onto the corresponding 2 monitors?
Any help would be much obliged,

Well, that's not really a forum question. What you want to do is pretty well outlined in the documentation. You should really read that first and then post here if you have specific questions regarding your setup...

    Thanks gmint,
I actually have read the documentation (thoroughly) but wanted to make sure the way I am setting up is the best way to do so...

What I am having trouble achieving is:
getting 2 HD clips in and then outputing each one to a different screen/output.

I am able to achieve 2 outputs by routing the clips in the advanced setup but I can't seem to manipulate 2 independent video streams simultaneously, I seem only to be able to create 2 outputs from one video source.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Cheers,
    Jordana

you're not very clear… you have 2 HD cams plugged into your computer? you're talking about input stream?!?

Anyway, to setup 2 outputs in modul8:

    I assume you're using a mac pro?
So, before opening modul8, setup your screens in the display preferences in system preferences. Uncheck the mirroring in the position tab and set your two screens to 1920x1080.

Then open modul8, go to advanced output setup, create two clips, ration 16/9. Select clip 1, apply these values: x: -640, y: -180, width: 640, height: 360. Select clip 2 and apply these values:x:0, y: -180, width: 640, height: 360

Then in the "route" part, for output 2, select clip1 in the popup menu and for output 3 select clip 2.

    That's it.

If your two outpu doesn't show on the right display, you can always set clip 2 on output 2 and clip 1 on output 3.
