boris wrote:About the external CoreImage filters,

You can put your external CoreImage filters in :

Library/Graphics/Image Units
or
~/Library/Graphics/Image Units

There is a post about that here :

Enjoy,
Boris.

i have downloaded ' v002Glitch.plugin' put it into Library/Graphics/Image Units; it doesn't show up in (at) filter (layer) v1 6 1;

You can get Syphon input already by using the QC Rehab trick (search the forum for QC Rehab). The specification for the next version says that M8 will have Syphon output, not input. I just tested the beta and input from Syphon still works with QC Rehab. But I must add that QC Rehab is not as smooth as a native support for Syphon input.

i hope i haven't gotten infamous by now for hijacking threads, but here's my 2 cents, after trying the beta briefly:

why on earth is full-screen output and syphon output mutually exclusive?

is there a technical reason for that? or is it a design decision?

anyway i appreciate all your work and like following along. best wishes for mapping 2011.

greetings,
haye

Holy crap. I just opened 2.6.2, along with (AT) Filter and its listing a whole bunch of FXFactory/Noise Industry plugins. Most of which seem to work. It's easily tripled the amount of CI effects on offer. (CI) NI Dots alone is worth it.
You can install a trial of FXFactory which will give you temporary access to these cool fx.
More exciting.

Hi, it's a design decision, but both in the same time will be possible in the next release through the advenced output.

Best,
Boris.

Syphon input will be implemented in the next release.

Seriously, these guyz make great software. The reason it continues to exist is because there are plenty of folks out there who are really happy with something simple that gets the job done. I don't see them whining whining all the time about how the software sucks because it does not do what VDMX does, and uh... how many people love VDMX? PUH leeze!

Do you have any clue how hard it is to develop software? A little decorum is in order.

I really don't mind the flames that will come from this... or being blocked from further use of this forum. I am too busy, happily gigging (thanks to Modul8) to sit around bitching.

Long live Modul8 (and the Madmapper that I have no problem waiting for).

There is a trick to export ALL modul8 output (even the Main UI) to Syphon.

- open Terminal
- type : defaults write com.GarageCUBE.modul8_25 syphon_always_on 1

If you want to come back to the default behavior (as exporting to Syphon uses ressources) :
defaults delete com.GarageCUBE.modul8_25 syphon_always_on

Regarding the CI filters

ilan wrote:Exceptional of interest to me is the glitch plug-ins by Vade. If anyone has time to mess around with it will be interested to know if it works.

I asked Vade on Twitter if his plugins could work within Modul8. And he says that most of his plugins uses Open GL, not Core Image. The can only work if Modul8 supports Quartz Composer filters which M8 doesn't.

I'm reporting that m8 syphon out mode is working to send to GVJ. Just take the Quartz Example in the Syphon download and drop it on a cell in GVJ and viola! M8 in GVJ. Now you can use all the Quartz filters via GVJ.

This is like getting a no latency capture card. This is a huge new feature.

Thanks to everyone involved for all the hard work. This is a huge move forward.

Now, lets get Ableton Live Syphon send enabled!
