As I understand we will have the possibility to ad an overall mask layer to cover the composition.
I would say that appart from the fact that it adds a new layer to play with its not that usefull. We could already do that with a black&white images + luma (or png with alpha channel)
I would really love to have lets say a folder in the modul8 application in wich you can add masks (basicly black & white images, or pngs with an alpha channel) Then when you boot modul8 you can access theses masks for any of the layers (maybe a 4th tab called "mask" around the speed settings for the clip). The good part is that you can create a composition wich is not only made of squares (or 4/3 rectangles actually). You can easily transform a rectangle video into a circle or a star (chessy examples !!!). And place them where ever you want on the screen.
I know this is already possible with an alpha channel. But the video as to be Animation. so it excludes big movies. And the mask as to be added for good in the video
It might be the direction your taking Yves & Boris. And in that case well GREAT
But if not, could you give us more info, and maybe consider this option ?
