    live video sampling

    by moonbase » Wed Nov 02, 2005 5:38 pm

    Completely agree with chromafresh, live sampling along those lines would make my christmas;
    the possibilities for getting more, live, situation relevant material into M8 SO easily
    would be my main request.

    (Oh yeah, plus a slightly larger target cross for centralising in Grid View with a 'centralise all layers' feature;
    I can never hit that little sucker first time! :shock:

    Big up all modul8 members maintaining me happy with an innovative program and trying to intergerate also our wishes. Seeing in modul8 more than ordinary visual program where only a flat-cutting/mixing of video clips is possible; for me it is becomming more and more an artist-tool-box, where you can express your feelings live in an unsual unique way.

    Can't wait for 2.5.
    Big up 8)

    Yes, true! And the painting pad means it's time to get a Wacom tablet...

    Freframe=great news. Expands greatly "our visual palette"

    Hi guys,
    I'm wondering if you could go into any detail about how freeframe is going to interact with modul8 footage. Can you apply different effects to different layers for example, or is it only applied to the master output? When one switches effects, I assume that each effect has a different set of knobs, but how would this work with midi or keyboard assignment? I suppose each knob would have to be assigned seperately for each effect? or do they share knob assignents more generally like "knob 1, knob 2, etc"

    Being able to use midi with freeframe on individual layers could potentially be pretty powerful and useful esp. in conjunction with logical record.
    I'll bet I could find a few filters worth working with if things were integrated at that level.
    This would be a decent substiture for KAOSS pad too, as long as "time sampling" was available for live camera feeds at some stage too.

    - FF works like the other Modul8 filters (saturation, etc.). It is per layer, applied to the content (not to the full composition).

    - The default filtering module supports four passes per layer (can be changed easily). In other words, you can apply four different filters for each layer.

    - Midi/keyboard mapping is per filter and per pass, but not per layer. This is because modules in the V2.5 still do not support contextual mapping. You will have to wait the V3.0 for full contextual mapping in the module system.

    Both would be extremely useful...

    Will freeframe work on "still" layers also?

    It has not been decided if we'll release a public beta or not yet. Of course, any news regarding the 2.5 will be published in this forum as usual.
