    midicontrol - what works?

    by Guest » Sun Nov 06, 2005 4:30 am

Does anybody have advice on what type of midi controller works best ?? I know there's alot out there - I'm looking for a unit that's small and simple to use for live performances.

I like the BCR 2000. Lots of knobs, lots of buttons, good indicator lights...

    My faves

Currently using an Edirol PCR-30, got used to it!
Best one IMO has to be the BCR2000
And I tested the UC-33 with good results, a nice all-round controller (I don't like its buttons though)

    Korg Kontrol/microKontrol?

    by nwmarco » Fri Jun 02, 2006 8:37 am

Anyone with experience using a Korg Kontrol or microKontrol?

16 pads for triggering media, 8 sliders, and more!

I think it may be time to move up past the trusty Oxygen 8.

    Cheers,
    Marco

I used midiman Oxygen. Was nice for triggering clips. However, has only 8 sliders for additional use.
Now I have a alesis photonx25. It has keys, 10 (!) endless (!) sliders/wheels and it also has 10 triggers. looks quite good.

I'm using a Novation 25sl that I also use for ableton Live. It appears to work very well... much easier to program than my old Korg Kontrol 49.

So that's three of us then!

About which controller works best, its more a case of what you want to do and then find the controller that is suited for that. I suggest that you don't get any at the moment and play about with md8, you'll soon figure out which parameters you want to have direct control over.
