Another midi question...

HI

Does having a midi map of 40 -50 keys and controllers effect the playback rate of mod8 v202? Seems really klunky today on my 1GHz TiBook, 10.4.3 etc. I removed all my work via "reset to factory" and I see some increase in speed but not much. Any experiences?

Also- why does mod8 think that midi chl 2 note #17 is the same as midi controller 17 on chl 2? Of course, this is just an example - all notes are seen the same as controllers which uses up lots of channels it seems... 2/note #17 should be different than 2/ctrl #17.

Thanks for putting up with the questions,

John

Please elaborate a bit of what you mean by "klunky" ? Does it happen only when you control Modul8 using Midi ?

Having good performances in Modul8 depends of a lot of parameters: Movie codec, duration, resolution, number of effects, etc.

Now about making a difference between note and control, it is the first time that somebody complains about that. So this is an improvement we may consider for the future.

The "klunky" part seems to have improved on its own... who knows. Sometimes when I restart 10.4.4 mod8 plays more quickly... I was just wondering if there is cpu time spent polling lots of assigned midi controllers.

I think the idea of having notes and controllers differentiated is very important. Very. I'm surprised that your talented user base seems not to have had a problem with this. For last week's show, I had to use 5 separate midi channels on my Alesis x25 controller. One for the keyboard, second chl for the first set of 10 knobs, third for the next set of 10 knobs, etc. It would also be terrific if there was a list of what midi inputs were doing what. I end up doing a screen save image.

Best,

John
