Announcing the FaderFox micromodul8 MIDI controller

    Image

We are often asked: "What kind of controller do you recommend for controlling Modul8?"
The answer from us is always "one that works best for you." After a while we started asking ourselves what kind of controller we would like to use with Modul8, and then contacted FaderFox to build it for us. The result of this collaboration is the FaderFox micromodul8 MIDI controller.

The micromodul8's dimensions are 180 x 105 x 70 mm, weighing 350 g so you can put it in your backpack along with your laptop and it will not take up too much space on a desk.

micromodul8 is USB class compliant and powered by the same port, no drivers are required. It has 3 standard knobs, 4 multi-functional rotary encoders, a crossfader and 36 colored buttons that we have carefully tailored to allow you to access each of the 10 Modul8 layers and a group of 16 buttons that mirrors the layout of the media set. Of the 36 buttons, 32 of them are supplied with an LED light providing the ability to receive feedback.

Functions of the controller will be fully integrated into Modul8 so that it will be easier for module savvy folks to customize controls to their hearts delight.

Pricing will be 249€ and it will be available in the second-quarter of 2013.

One month to win two FaderFox micromodul8 MIDI controllers and 10 t-shirts for the runner-ups!

Show us a video of you, or a willing friend, doing a 30 second testimonial about how much you love Modul8. The Modul8 logo must be painted somewhere on you or your friends body.

The best two videos will be judged based the quality of the production and the content.

Submissions are restricted to existing Modul8 license holders only.

To apply simply log into to the Modul8 yourspace for further information:

    http://www.modul8.ch/yourspace

The winners will receive their controllers prior to official availability.

We look forward to your submissions!

    Multi-language Modul8 user manual availability

The popularity of Modul8 is a global one, therefore we have added new translations of the user manual in French, Spanish, German and Japanese in PDF format.
These manuals are available from the Modul8 yourspace download page and the software package of the Modul8 application.

Best to the east and to the west!

Seems like a lot of nice additions. However I have to say that blocking the syphon feedback seems a mistake. When I hacked the syphon input module to feed back on itself it looks amazing!

Is there any danger in having this option available?

    Hello,

ghostofelvis100 wrote:Is there any danger in having this option available?

There is no danger in having this option. To have Modul8 syphon output listed, just edit the "Syphon input" and comment out the if that excludes Modul8

    - Menu Modules | Editor
    - choose Modules, "Syphon input (layer)"
    - in the bottom tab bar, choose scripts
    - prepend a # to the line : if not appName.startswith ('Modul8') : #Do not add the Modul8 syphon in the list
    so it looks like
    #if not appName.startswith ('Modul8') : #Do not add the Modul8 syphon in the list
    - menu Modules | Save All Changes
    - menu Modules | Restart

now if you choose : menu Output | Syphon, you will see "Modul8 - Main View" listed.

Another tip, if you want all the windows to be always outputed to Syphon, it is explained there : http://forum.garagecube.com/viewtopic.php?p=19079#p19079

    Hello vanakuru,

our old website has problem with our new activation/authorization server. So, sometimes it shows "could not get serial infos" or it does not manage to get the download link and don't show the download block in the yourspace page.

In these cases, just reload the page in your browser : CMD+R

    Regards.

Hi, yes David, I'd already worked that out and like I said, the feedback looks really amazing. I was just curious why such a cool thing had been intentionally removed, especially if there is 'no danger'.

Not everyone is willing to edit module scripts, or read through forums for such tricks, and will likely miss out on this feature.

    Either way, syphon input rocks.

Anyway, thanks for the full syphon output terminal tip ; )

    open Modul8
Projects create or open a previously created.
Opens the File menu -> Export Projects and media ...
Select folder, write the name of project, to record.
    The window disappears.
In the folder where I saved Projects, nothing.
    :(

The feature that i call tell which frame is rendered by "logical render" is new , isn´t it ?

it´s the first time i notice it....

but it very good. Like the time counting down when i cross the road an ignore the traffic light...

I find it very usefull, because it helps to be not that impatient.

    thanxs ... very helpfull ...
