Best Way to use JPEGS / Stills in Modul 8

    by davids » Fri Feb 01, 2013 12:26 am

    Hi All,

I am working on a theatre project where I need to project very large 'stills' and change colours etc.

My main problem is that when I tried using photos @1280 x 960 ( the maximum output for the projector) - things tend to freeze.

Any tips on what is the biggest / best file to use for still photos (like a slideshow presentation) with modul 8....?

I have just tried a group of photos as a slideshow (in imovie11 as a quicktime movie) at 640 x 480 75% quality - and on my laptop pics look soft - not sharp ... : -(

Can anyone suggest the best way to use jpegs / or any other still photograph format for large high quality projections...?

    Cheers

try apple intermediate codec and 1280x960 isn't many pixels to push. what machine do you have?

    in imovie11 as a quicktime movie) at 640 x 480 75% quality

    I would avoid this. :)

you can drag a folder of images into M8 and it will act like a slideshow.
but really, it should run 1280 images no problem

Many thanks for your prompt replies ....

Yes I will try loading 1280 images again

Perhaps the problem is in my Modul8 Preferences - presently Preferences > Misc > Movie folder maximum size is set at 640 x480 ... So I will change this to 1280 size output.

Another general 'stills' question is - in photoshop what dpi or other settings are preferable for loading, i.e 72 / 150 / 300. This will surely affect file size / processing speed / quality of very large projected images.

Thanks for any other ideas coming ....

dpi is only relevant for printers
its the dimensions in pixels that count.
if in doubt, put 72 dpi as its the same res as monitors.
