Hdmi input? Which to purchase?

Hi. I'm using a macbook pro and want to purchase an hdmi input device.
I'm hearing the black magic intensity is terrible (lost connections... dropped frames)
does modul8 work with any of these other input devices from Elgato, hauppage or aver media?
