numeric entry for parameters

I'm sure this is so simple to do, but I'm not too hot at these things. Can I somehow make a module that enables me to enter the value for a parameter numerically (by double clicking on a control, for example). I am thinking specifically about the speed control, and maybe clip in/out parameters. I would like accuracy in controlling the clip speed. thanks
