    by Anome » Tue Mar 03, 2009 9:51 am

    Hi,

    Here is a module to control the position of each layer in Modul8.

    Good job! It is very fast to rearrange the layers from one spot.
    I need layer positioning very often. While this is nice to have a module to do it (and the most useful is to access your media on spec layer by clicking on the thumb in the module), the real feature I am missing all the time is ability to enter numeric XY positions. And not just drag the layer with mouse.
    Anybody who ever tried to line up layers know what I am talking about. Snap helps it quit a bit though.
    If you could add this somehow I would be most grateful.

    Looks very interesting, I'll test it as soon as I get the chance.
    Thanks.

    I've been talking to Ilan about this very problem.

    we need to be able to nudge X and Y positions in pixel increments.
    Snap is handy of course.
    I'll give him a nudge...

    I am working on it. Actually something I have been wanting to do for a long time. Especially with this idea of moving a layer to the music.

    Have started working on it already but...

    Anome is probably a much more advanced at module authoring then I am. It should be very easy for him to pop in two text fields that send absolute values to a selected layer and a D pad for button pushing accuracies.

    Will re:post when I have something.

    whaou ! i didnt read all these messages but i did the "nudge" feature ...

    so now you can set the position with numbers or increase it 1 by 1 :)

    I'm getting a serious bug with this module.
    everything is fine until I try to open the same show again.

    then everything locks up.

    TypeError: can't multiply sequence to non-int

    please be more specific: gimme an accurate scenario to reproduce it and gimme if possible the line number (or the instructions) where you get the bug...

    I tried this as well.
    I just save the project, open another project, open previous saved project. I get your module not responding to the layers. Module is responding itself OK/all the functions work. just does not move or connect to any layers.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGb2LYhCAUg

    I get these errors
    ValueError: invalid literal for float(): False
    Init() line 68
    Init() line 155
    MessageEvent() line 105

    BTW module is not responding after M8 restart as well even in new project.

    I found I had to delete all the layers and then I could start again...

    That gets us going again. But you have nothing saved.
    This time the error is Init line23 TypeError: can't multiply sequence to non-int
    and PerioticalEvent line 9
