midi toggle on/off?

Hi all,
Is there some way to send a midi signal to toggle a layer on/off? By this I mean tapping to trigger either an on or off state. (instead of having to hold the key down?

this depends on your controller, some buttons are toggle, others are continuous. You can trick modul8 by making a module that check the state of your layer before applying either on or off. then you map your midi to the module and not the layers

Yo! How would you do that more specifically? I've no idea how modules are constructed...
