Sound Router

Hello Folks,

I have just written & uploaded a new module for you all to play with. It works in a very similar way to the BPM router, but instead applies the Sound Input to the selected controller.

The design includes a few simple features:

-START
This turns the function on for that controller.

-LEVEL
This adjusts the level of effect on the controller.

-THRESHOLD
This adjusts the audio level at which the effect will kick in. This means that you can let low level audio pass thru, and and soon as the audio volume reaches the Threshold level, the effect will begin at whatever level has been set by the Level control.

-INVERT
This inverts the whole effect so that high-level audio signals will reduce the effect on the controller.

-LEVEL CHECK
This section contains duplicate controls for the global Sound Input & Output, there is a fader there which will indicate audio input signal level. This function does increase processor load and should on really be used to check the signal is there, and at a useful level, then turned off.

KNOWN issues.V1.2
-Level check on/off is sometimes un-responsive and becomes inverted. I have only just noticed this and will work on it...
NOTE: this bug has been sorted. V1.3 now in library.

Please let me know of any other bugs. I'll be happy to work on them.

Anyway everyone, have lots of fun.

Andy T.

THE FUTURE:
I would like to include the further audio features that were released in M8 v2.6, however there doesn't seem to be any keywords to work with yet (perhaps you could look into this Boris Edelstein if you're reading this).
I have started work on a version that offered a source selection control hoping to be able to use the audio output, but realised this was unfortunately also a dead end. Again, I don't know if this can be implemented into the keywords.

Hello again folks,

I've just upload v1.3 into the online modules library.

This version fixes the bug with the level check button.

If anyone has installed v1.2, I suggest deleting it and upgrading to v1.3

Cheers

Andy T.

ps. don't forget to crank up those speakers...:D

How,?

which elements of the filter layer can be controlled?
i select 'pick' on sound router module. then try to select a parameter in filter (layer) but no luck...

By 'Filter' I mean audio frequency filter.

Meaning that you can apply the Low, Mid and High outputs of the 'Audio Analysis' function in M8.

To achieve this simply select one of the 'Full - Low - Mid - High' buttons in the frequency range section of the Sound Router module.

This module does not affect the FF or CC visual filters. If you wish to affect those filters with the sound input, I did make an edit of the Filters module which has an audio input.

It can be found in the online library titled: '(at) Filter (layer) v1.6'

However, the above module does not have any control over the Low, Mid, High values, and just takes the overall sound input level for the animation of the filters.

Hope this clears things up.

So, this module is great. Do you know if there is any way to have a layer or effect react only to one stereo channel, right or left? This would be an immense help for me, but I imagine also for others. I'm projecting onto a live band with 3D mapping. I'm looking to isolate bass drum hits from high frequencies, and the current frequency settings are tough to get a clear simultaneous isolation with.

If you use the Sound Analysis set-up you can separate the left/right for the different ranges lo/mid/hi. You could even set the Hi to a low range and the Low to a high range if you wish:
Garagecube tutorial: http://vimeo.com/7842178

However, this method does restrict you to just the 3 ranges and I have some machinations on producing a version of this mod with a parametric eq and pan for each keyword control:

but, I'm afraid this is shelved until I get the Gener8 mods sorted. http://vimeo.com/42870560
