"Monomal" is a special module for the 40h monome.
It allows the user to control the video layers of Modul8, the opacity, the speed, the timeline, in a very fluid fashion.

If you don't have any monome, you can use the 'Virtual Monome' module (downloadable from the online library of modul8) ...

Monomal praise and suggestions

Just wanted to let you know that both the monomal and virtual monome modules have become a huge staple of my live performance. they really are powerful. After using it for some time, I've come up with a few suggestions...

It would be great to see a future version of monomal in which the user can modify the lower-half controls, simply because i have other controllers capable of handling the speed and opacity, and would like to have as much control as possible. i could even see potential in using the bottom half as a bunch of mappable on/off switches.

Also, the modul8 function for recording a layer and playing it back looped, as well as the function to record the master layer and rendering it to disk later, both are unable to record the "scratching" done with the monomal module. It seems complicated to fix, but if you did, it would add an extreme amount of usefulness to the module: being able to play back a looped sequence of button-presses would be amazing.

thanks again for these modules. i really wouldn't be able to perform in the way that i want without them.

Well, i m working (at this precise time) on the second version of Monomal.

I think, you ll like it. List of features (some inspired by DJ64) :
- pagination system
- working with 6 layers
- BPM tap and beat synchronization
- overriding audio management to accurately change : the pitch, the speed (without the pitch), repeat effect, better scratch effect, ...
- record function

The pagination system should be great to add pages which fit your needs.
The record function should be able to replay accurately what you did.

Hi,

This feature doesnt exist. You can ask for it, by entering a feature request in UserVoice (a website which collect customer feedback) :
- go to Monomal
- choose the "about" tab
- click on the "give feedback" button

Or use this link : http://monomal.uservoice.com
Dont hesitate to vote for other features !
