    Hardware Sanity Check (Datapath + 1920x1200 x 3)

    Hello,

I'm new to projection tech and trying to verify if I'm doing these calculations correctly. We have a need for 3 projector setup, each with 1920x1200 resolution, making the final screen 5760x1200 @ 30fps. That's 1920*1200*30 = 69 MP/s. Datapath FX4 spec says each output can be up to 165 MP/s. Seems like we're well within that. Am I understanding this correctly?

Would either FX4 or the X4 version be able to drive this experience w/o a problem?

We're hoping to use a Mac Pro (6,1) here. Is the command line interface for OSX by Datapath fairly straightforward as far as configuration?

    Thank you very much!

I have no experience with Datapath products (it has good reputation through). When I do multi-output on a Mac Pro, I connect 6 screens with active MiniDP->HDMI adapters - about 20$ each and we can have 60 FPS on 6x Full HD with many HD movies playing. Use latest MadMapper for best performances.

Thank you Matt! Very helpful. We were originally planning to go straight to Mac Pro, but wasn't super sure it could handle 3x projectors @ 1920x1200. Have you tried running multiple projectors @ 1920x1200 resolution before? Thank you

Wr did 6x 1920x1080, so there will be no problem. Version 3.2.2 is even better than previous because we adjusted the OpenGL engine to handle specific apple AMD driver things. I can create 20 fullHD preview windows and still have 60FPS with a few materials (even if it's not displayed on a projector the graphics card renders it), so no problem in your case.
