    Colour depth

    by gard-g » Mon Apr 08, 2019 12:24 pm

    Hi all,

Quick theoretical question. I sometimes work with video with lots of smooth gradients where colour banding can become an issue. The signal is analog YPbPr component. (Some of you can probably guess what this is about!)

There are some 10-bit capture cards out there – a few from Blackmagic, as well as a couple of PCIe ones from Magewell. If I were to use one of these cards, would MadMapper ble able to process and make use of the 10-bit colour depth, or would it be reduced to the usual 8 bits somewhere in the chain?

    TIA

It's not supported at the moment. We'll investigate how this could be achieve.
