How to smoothly project 100+ videos at once?

The title says it all and I hope I could get some thoughts from the collective brains in this forum. I am relatively new to MadMapper and noticed I can only smoothly project 3-5 recoded videos at once in any project with my latest MacBook Pro (4Gb graphics card / 16gb ram).

I’d like to construct a project that has 100 or more recorded videos projecting at the same time smoothly, forming a grid like projection of videos. This would be for an art installation.
- Is it possible to do this with this software?
- What are the max number of recorded videos you’ve been able to project at one time?
- Do I need to use multiple systems or a more powerful machine?
Any and all thoughts are welcome. Thank you in advance.

Shaun

hi Shaun,

give it a try with the demo version ;)

your videos should use the HAP codec though + use hardware acceleration (an option within MadMapper)

Indeed there is no software limit at the number of videos playing at the same time. The codec matter. H264 is well supported by all GPUs now, HAP codec is handled natively by MadMapper 3.6 and later with better performances. You should give it a try.
What resolution will the videos have ?
On a good desktop PC or a good mac, I can play a bunch (8?) of 4k videos without frame drops. On my MacBook Pro 2018 I can play the equivalent of 10 full HD movies.
If your videos are low resolution (since you show a lot it doesn't have to be high resolution, except if you have 12 projectors ;-)), you could play 100 I suppose.
