Layer Stacking With "Multiply"

Hi,

I'm interested in overlaying a material quad with blend mode set to Multiply such that it affects some layers under it, but not all. For example:

Layer 1 (top layer): Cubic Circles material
Layer 2: Video of grass slowly blowing in wind
Layer 3: Video of underwater footage

I would like the Cubic Circles material to "cut out" pieces of the grass video, but not the underwater footage.

I feel like there should be a way to do this, but can't figure it out. Any ideas?

Thanks,

T

Have been wondering the same thing!

What about this surface order, for your example:
1. Underwater footage, "Add" blend mode
2. Cubic circles material, "Multiply" blend mode
3. Grass footage, "Add" or "Over" blend mode

This approach seems to work when I try it, but I'm not sure if there is a better / alternate way.

Nice, just gave it a shot, and yeah, that does seem to do it! I figured there would likely be a way, I think I'm just so used to stacking layers/masks in photo shop, it threw me off.

Thanks!

You can also mask part of your layer in multiply mode using a quad mask.
