    Ableton Live Control problem

    by yanaura » Mon Apr 13, 2020 7:38 pm

Hi. Sorry if it's a silly question.

I'm trying to use the Ableton Link but it's not working and I don't know why.

    1. I opened MadMapper 3.7.6 and I don't see the "MadMapper In" option on the Input Devices list of MadMapper >> Preference/MIDI

    2. I opened Ableton Live 10 Trial and I don't see the "Output: MadMapper In" on the list of "Link MIDI/MIDI ports"

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or It's something related to the Ablenton's Trial.

I'm using a PC with Windows 10 pro and I recently installed MadMapper 4 Beta.

I uninstalled MadMapper 3.7.6 and 4 Beta, downloaded the 3.7.6 vs and reinstalled again. Everything is the same.

I don't know what to do.

    Thanks.

I think the problem is the Ableton Trial VS.

The Link Option is not activated.

"MadMapper In" is only available on macOS. But it's not "Ableton Link" related. Ableton Link is not going though MIDI. Ableton Link is activated in Ableton with the Link button: https://help.ableton.com/hc/en-us/artic ... nk-in-Live

    Thank you very much, mad-matt.

So on Windows I don't need to activate that. OK. I guess it's not necessary.

Unfortunately, on Ableton Live Trial the option "Show Link Toggle" it's deactivated (never goes yellow when you clicked it). And there's no LINK button on the far left of Live's control Bar

I think I have to buy a License to try this things.

    Best regards.

It's very strange, but you need to use ASIO as output audio device. It works in the demo too.

Are there any plans to make the MIDI in/out available on Windows machines? It would be very useful if so.

Windows still doesn't support "virtual MIDI devices"
So you still have to use a MIDI cabling software that acts as a hardware but just redirect MIDI messages to another virtual device (IN & OUT)...
