Making an animated mask?

Hello, I'm brand new to madMapper so this might not even be the right question or terminology. I have an animation of a cloud that moves horizontally across the screen and I want to make a mask that will only project the cloud and tracks it as it moves along its path. I've seen a lot of tutorials for making static masks. Is there a way to do this type of animated thing? I appreciate any help or guidance!
