    Unplug MiniMAD while running?

    by CaseyJScalf » Wed Jul 01, 2020 9:45 pm

Looking into using some of the MiniMAD devices for a long term installation (1 year +).

I would like to put the whole installation on a timer connected to the power strip. The projector supports direct power off.

However, I have always heard rumor that it was not right to just unplug the Raspberry Pi from the power. It might corrupt the SD card or something. Well, I am not exactly unplugging it just turning off the power. Well the timer is.

Has anyone put these through the paces? Does the SD every corrupt? Thank you in advance I love this product!

You can definitely use a timer as described,

However in some situations where space is limited, the MiniMad units might get hot. If too hot for a long time, data corruption may appear on entry level SD-card. In these situations you should use an Industrial/Military grade SD card

Units ran for more than a year in suitable environments (with Industrial Grade SD card and well aired)

Love it. I only want to mess with mil-spec gear.

What SD cards fit this bill? Happy to upgrade to keep it running smooth!

Thanks and great work on the MM4 MiniMad world!

Looking to follow up on the SD acrd spec. Any tips on where to buy those that are mil-spec grade?

    Thanks!
